How it works

Create or join a room

The host gets a generated room code. Guests use that code or an invite link.

Open the same video

Each person signs in to the source website in their own browser.

Watch together

The host controls playback. Play, pause, and seek actions apply immediately; normal network drift is corrected gently.

What works today

vidsimul starts with YouTube and Netflix pages through their local HTML5 video elements. It does not bypass DRM, paywalls, source-site authentication, canvas players, or cross-origin embedded players.

Private by default

Rooms are temporary and anonymous. The extension does not collect source-site passwords, cookies, session tokens, or full media URLs.

Install the extension

For this early release, download the extension build and load its folder as an unpacked extension in Chrome.

Download the Chrome extension

  1. Download the latest extension build from the project release.
  2. Open chrome://extensions and enable Developer mode.
  3. Select Load unpacked and choose the extracted extension folder.
